Chaojie Generation 3 Display for FarDriver Controller
Chaojie Generation 3 Display for FarDriver Controller

I ordered this display about 14 days ago (from time of writing) and it has been great. However there are 2 major issues I had with setting it up. The first issue was lack of instructions, I had to end up going to E-Conic Cycles website for this display to find out the wiring because there was no instructions provided in the box. (Black = Positive, Green = Negative, Purple = Data line for speed, battery, etc.) The other issue I had was getting the battery percentage to show correctly. There was nothing in the instructions I was able to preview that showed how to set it. How you are supposed to set it is that when you get to the display settings (Hold top right bezel between the screen and right blinker after startup finishes), and where the maximum voltage option is at, set it in the hundreds. So for example if you have a 48 volt battery, the maximum voltage would be 546, not 54 because the last digit represents the decimal point. Why Chaojie set it to be like that i'm not entirely sure, and why the voltage setting at the top doesn't automatically set this either is beyond me. Those were the 2 main issues I had, small issues like wiring it up I figured out myself. I don't know if this changes between different fardriver controllers but for mine, to get the speedo correct, I had to set it to analog and change speed pulses to 3. If you have a fardriver KR7280A from the Kunray kit, the data cable is NOT the blue one, it's the brown boost wire. Everything was pretty simple to understand though. Apple carplay works fine, sometimes it lags and freezes when it starts up but you just have to turn it off and back on. The main OS of the display is also fine, I haven't been able to test out the radio because I don't have the optional speakers. One thing I wish will get added is a bluetooth output so you can add your own bluetooth speakers. Im sure they don't offer it only because of how carplay works but it would be pretty cool for the radio if you don't care about carplay. Overall the screen itself is great, it's pretty water resistant, as we had a hard rainfall here for about an hour and it survived it without any issues so it has some sort of IPX65 rating. Just make sure if you get a display like this that you get a mount, I ended up having to modify a 3d printed one because my handle bars were 25.5mm in diameter and 42mm in width. This is a pretty good screen for a fardriver display, if you are choosing between this display and generation 1, the only difference I've seen is that its just apple carplay, they seem completely the same otherwise since the generation 1 has bluetooth, its just a matter of if you want carplay on your bike. Other then that theres no real big issues Ive had since owning it. I might post an update once it starts snowing here and let whoever reads this know how it does during winter weather. Thanks.
